Location privacy

  • Avoid posting exact coordinates or access points publicly.
  • Share details sparingly and only with trusted partners.
  • Delay posting for fragile or active sites to reduce traffic and harm.

No forced entry

  • Do not break windows, cut fences or locks, or remove boards.
  • If sealed, return another time. Don’t make access.
  • Respect signage and closures; do not tamper with security systems.

Take nothing, leave nothing

  • Photograph, don’t disturb. Leave objects and documents in place.
  • Pack out all trash and avoid leaving marks or graffiti.
  • Protect heritage, ecological, and residential sensitivity.

Publish responsibly

  • Remove sensitive EXIF location data when appropriate.
  • Avoid revealing access methods or vulnerabilities.
  • Credit reputable history sources; blur personal details.

Community & respect

  • Be courteous to locals, owners, and other explorers.
  • If approached, be calm and cooperative; leave when asked.
  • Avoid shaming; educate when safe to do so. Lead by example.
